Today's Meditation

Thank you Lord for being patient with me.
When I was not my best, you were always there.
God, I seek to grow in you,
To know your ways
And to have peace that surpasses all understanding.
I give you total control over my life,
In Jesus’ name,

Warning Against Unbelief

So, as the Holy Spirit says:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.
10 That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”[b]

I know what prayers can do

Sunday, October 16, 2016

10 But whatever I am now it is all because God poured out such kindness and grace upon me—and not without results: for I have worked harder than all the other apostles, yet actually I wasn’t doing it, but God working in me, to bless me. 11 It makes no difference who worked the hardest, I or they; the important thing is that we preached the Gospel to you and you believed it.

Father, how grateful I am that You  are patient, loving, kind ,,and forgiving toward me.You have many more reasons to be angry then I ever do,yet You always treat me with compassion. Please help me to be more like You in word, thought, and deed.
I confedd my anger to You and ask You to cleanse my heart of any resentment and bitterness I feel. Please show me where this pain originates and remove it from my soul so that I will not sin against You.When I am angry, reveal constructive and loving ways for me to deal with my emotions, giving me the patience and wisdom to handle what is really going on within me, rather than simply lashing out.
Please teach me to be a person of peace and grace, Father. Help me to understand why certain traps entangle me and how I can be free of them.Show me how I can be Your representative, helping others to be from their anger and leading them to faith in You.
In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

How to Treat the Unbeliever

The Christian’s lifestyle can either be a stepping stone or a stumbling block in the unbeliever’s life. When it comes to the people God has placed in our lives, we have a responsibility to share Christ with them, encourage them to be baptized, lead them to join a local church, and equip them to serve the Lord.

Understanding Your Call

Mark 8:34-35
I like to use the word believer when talking about God’s children, as it specifically refers to those who have trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. That is a much smaller population than those who label themselves “Christian.” But did you know that even fewer people could rightly be called “followers”? These are the people who passionately pursue the Lord’s will in all things.
Are you a believer or a follower? Trusting in Jesus Christ is fundamental, but doing so is the first step, not the culmination, of a person’s faith. Our primary purpose is to take a life-long journey following in the Lord’s footsteps, honoring Him with our actions and speech, and always increasing in biblical wisdom.
A follower’s life is summed up in the phrase complete obedience. In fact, Jesus defined true Christians as those who prove their love for Him by keeping His word (John 14:23). When it comes to obeying God, there are really only two responses—“I will” or “I won’t.” It’s tempting to say, “I will, but ...” as some of Jesus’ would-be disciples did, but that’s a roundabout way of saying no. Followers remain faithful to the Lord’s plan whether doing so is easy or hard. Not only that, but they proclaim Him in both blessing and calamity, and go even when they don’t like where He leads.
Followers pursue the Lord because they know that the reward is a deeper, more passionate relationship with Him. They are not just waiting to spend eternity with God in heaven. They realize that eternity begins now, as they accompany Him on the righteous path He has set before them.

The Good Life

We all know of people who suffer from deteriorating health, financial reverses and other troubles. How are we to process such situations in light of what the Scriptures teach about the Lord's goodness and the expression of His benevolence towards us?
First God's character is perfect and everything He does is right.(See Deut.32:4). He is "compassionate and gracious...and abounding in loving kindness(Ps.108:8). By His very nature,God is good.Second , our heavenly Father expresses His goodness based on His goodness based on His purpose of conforming us to the image of Christ (Rom.8:29). From the Lord's perspective, everything that fits into His plan is beneficial for us.
The greatest demonstration of Father's goodness is seen in His Son's life and death. Jesus left His heavenly home, took on the form of man, suffered and died in our place so we might be forgiven (Phil.2:6-8). Because of what our Savior endured, we who have trusted in Him are adopted into  God's family, and heaven is our eternal home.
At the time of Christ's crucifixion, the disciples could not see anything beneficial in it. They knew only great sorrow. But we understand  that God gave His own Son so that He might accomplish our salvation(Rom.8:32).
Our definition of the good life would probably include material success, good health, and the  absence of trouble-things that make us happy right now. But God has an eternal perspective, and He always works to fulfill His long-term plan for us. We can trust in His goodness, even in dark times.
